Short story:
We have a beautiful red satin doe. We held back a beautiful red satin buck. If we breed them, we will get more beautiful red satins, right?
Long story:
We randomly get satins from our stock. We ended up with a doe getting pregnant by a littermate. We saw her haystache and quickly put her in her own cage and gave her a nest box. She ended up being kept and has given us 2 good litters.
In another litter, we ended up with a satin buck. We decided to hold him back. The buck and doe look very similar. Both have a deepness to their color. People comment at how beautiful their coat is when they see them.
My son wants to learn to work hides. He wants to get his trapping and fur bearer's license. I told him that I want him to practice on rabbit hides first.
