We have several different varities of roses growing in our yard. I have read that roses are good for rabbits. My question is, is there just a certain type of rose that rabbits can have, or any?

Note: No rabbits yet, but I am really hoping to have rabbits soon. There are a few breeders I've talked to, so now it's just about getting the cages built. Which will have to come after we've dealt with some of the things we are dealing with right now.

Thank you! We do have rose of sharon, but also have other roses. I will double check and make sure all are actual roses.

Mine love all things roses and plants in the rose family like blackberry and raspberry. I believe hibiscus family of flowering plants are also safe for rabbits although mine seemed less than impressed with what we call Confederate Roses around these parts.

But, yes, roses are rabbit crack but you need to be sure they have not been sprayed with anything.

Another "rose" they really like is evening primrose which grows literally like a weed in my yard.

All unsprayed roses of every type are very safe.
The entire plant can be fed.

It should be confirmed that they actual roses though, and not something like "rose of sharon" which is actually a type of hibiscus (Hibiscus syriacus) , and may be toxic to dogs according to aspca https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-p ... ose-sharon.

Hibiscus? Possibly Poisonous?!? I'm honestly surprised by that. I have always called these hibiscus (and had this particular kind along with several other varieties) and on the guidance of several books and forums, I would chop them up and feed them to my iguanas. They were like chocolate to us, but like really high % dark chocolate. As the creatures loved them and they were good for them so it was okay for a daily part of their meal. I fed them to my iguanas every day for years (gotta love Florida)...

Well, I found some info too; http://homeguides.sfgate.com/can-hibisc ... 71517.html
Apparently it is ONLY dogs; even humans can eat hibiscus flowers (which I also knew, hence my shock, but iguanas are particularly sensitive to these things).
