We have 4 unfed kits, two of which are definitely runts. I tried flipping Rosebud to feed them. What a nightmare.

She did NOT like it and kicked the crap out of the kits and me. Now I have kits with bad gashes on them and my leg is pretty torn up.

My concern is that they will scab with fur in them. Should I be concerned about that?

Also, I checked her and it looks like her vulva is still pretty swollen. Is this normal? None of the does looked like this at 8+ hours postpartum.

I already had to clean out her nesting box. Most of the kits were soaking wet from her peeing on them. She seemed to bleed more this time than last.

Poor little popples! :( Do you have Vetricin or something to spray on them? Someone else had an injured kit and was concerned about the fur in the wounds and received a reply not to worry about it- they heal just fine. Poor Rosebud looks like she could use some Vetricin or diaper cream on her hoochie too. Looks sore!

Poor babies! And poor Ollitos!....just clean the gashes on the babies, they will be ok. As for flipping, I have some that don't like to be flipped at all. So, I sit them on my lap and spread my legs apart and hold the kit under to nurse. You can only do one at a time that way and may need one person to sit and hold mama and one person to sit and hold bunny, but it works.

Greg and I tag-teamed her earlier this morning. He held her in place while I helped the kits find nipples. There are two runts - one grey and one pink. The grey one was getting a full, round tummy although it took a while. The pink one sucks and sucks but doesn't get that nice round belly.

I am at my parent's house so Greg checked them this evening. Rosebud had already fed everyone but these two were still unfed. He said the same thing happened - the grey was full but the pink wasn't. I have a feeling we'll lose the pink one.

Rosebud's vulva looked much better this morning.

When I'm checking the rabbits over, I tend to think out loud as I go. So as we were nursing the kits, I checked Rosebud's vulva and, think-talking, said, "Oh good. Her vulva is looking much better. It was very red and inflamed yesterday." Greg laughed and said, "Yours would be too if you pushed out 10 babies!" The conversation went downhill from there. LOL

LOL- Greg's right!

I am glad she is doing better. How do her scratched up kits look? Is the pink one doing okay?

Not sure. I'm at my parent's house about an hour away for the weekend. My back went out so my mom came to get me and I've been to the chiro twice. I'm bedridden for the weekend. Not sure if Greg has had a chance to feed the kits yet or not.

Oh no! I hope your back loosens up soon! At least you have RT to keep you occupied while you are down. :)
