Being able to buy very cheap root veg, mainly carrot, and swede means not only are we eating lots of them - mmmmmmm love them mashed together with loads of butter - but that the rabbits are having loads as well.

So I started wondering, as I dump huge piles of peelings and chunks into each cage, how would one calculate the amount for each adult rabbit if that was the main source of feed?

Growing roots is easy and they store well so will be planting as many as will fit in the garden as homegrown is always better but by gods, at about $6 for 50 pounds of carrots, they are getting plenty of them to stretch out the more expensive feed.

there are 186 calories in a pound of carrot [root]
There are 163 calories in a pound of rutrabagas..
To maintain an average adult meat rabbit, requires [about] 400 calories/day.

That is exactly what I needed, can work with that really easily!

Thank you VERY much!
