Does ARBA publish a list of rabbitry names? I am going to try to sell some bunrabs at the show tomorrow and thought I should have a name to put on the pedigrees.

You can use your last name if you can't figure out a rabbitry name you like. The rabbitry page for the ARBA listings is down. There are a number of rabbitries registered, doing a google search for the name you're wanting to use can help you figure out if that name's 'taken' though. Pedigrees are not considered complete with out that prefix, so need some thing.

Okay- so all the rabbits I have bred would be "MamaSheepdogs Evil Blue" "MamaSheepdogs Gofer It", etc.? Do I have to name the for sale bunnies, or can I leave that up the new owner and they can call it "MamaSheepdogs whatever-they-choose"?

Yep, you can leave it for the person to choose or name yourself. Some people put like MamaSheepDogs CP4506 instead of a name. The ear number works just as well :)

Excellent... :) my rabbits are tattooed with Buck's initial, Doe's initial, month, year, kit number. I don't mark them with a breeder prefix, since I am using 5 digits already.

Now, to think of a catchy rabbitry name... ACK! The pressure!

lol I know....went through that phase. Just make sure it means some thing to you....and it'll stick and work its way out. When I first started with my sister we had 'our' name...she quit...I lost the 'rabbitry' feel and just used last name for a while. Then after while started thinking and got back to the 'name'...it tends to stick with people when you have a rabbitry name lol. Some things happened and decided to do a rebuild, SO new name was needed. This one will stick with me, either until I get too old for caring for rabbits or they go else where. Never intended on jumping around on naming at all, its not good and makes it hard for pple to keep up but the old name had negatives attached with it that I didn't want so felt justified...and just my last name I wasn't happy with lol.

It can be related to your area, or your specific location...for me, we have one acre of property, so One Acre Farm just seemed to fit.

My last name is not conducive to naming anything. Neither is my first name or my initials. I wish I had a really cool name.

 Outland works- we are way off the beaten path... our elevation is 4350 so Highland would work too, but it might give the wrong impression... there are quite a few illicit farms in these here hills...

I married a Scot, but I'm of Danish heritage... keep those suggestions coming, guys- I am outside working with the bunnies and brainstorming, but nothing has really clicked yet name-wise. I don't want to specifically name my town either, since it is a small place.

Oooh- I like it! Hmmmm... :)

Hey everybody, Skymya bought 3 rabbits from me so she has a tactical advantage on name suggestions since she has been here! She chose a blue junior doe, a broken castor junior doe, and a black junior buck. Their new home was not yet ready, so they are still here... but her blue doe is over 4 pounds so can be shown, and I will be taking her to the show tomorrow. So wish her luck! :p We are meeting on Sunday so Skymya can take her bunnies home... let's hope the little doe will be bringing a ribbon with her! :hooray:

Copenhagen & Scotch Rabbitry :p

Akvavit and Glenlivet Roaring Good Time Rabbitry! I could serve shots of raw spirits to all prospective buyers, thereby lowering their inhibitions so they will buy more bunnies!

Since the bunnies are slowly overtaking all available space, how about The Rambling Rabbitry? Or, since I raise Rex "The King of Rabbits" primarily for meat, Royal Lapin Rabbitry or King Lapin Rabbitry? The Meat Locker? The Velveteen BunnyBarn? Rexcellent Rabbits/Rabbitry?

Help... <pathetic whimper> I am running out of time...
