What's a good tattoo kit that would work on both small and large rabbits? I have mini rex now and some day in the future I might have a pair of netherland dwarfs. cost might be an issue. I was going to put it on my christmas list. I researched this once before and forgot what I decided on or what prices I saw.

My tattoo kit is called EZ Tat. if you google EZ tat, it'll pop up for you. This is the hand held battery operated unit. I prefer it over the clamping method. Matter of opinion, I guess. If I had one thing to change about it,would want a bi I t of a wider needle, as the lines are fine, and I have to retrace to thicken them. It takes practice to be able to go over the same line. I paid $50 for mine, and love it!

Good luck!

I lack any artistic skill and my hand writing is crap. A clamp unit is the only thing that is going to be readable for me.

50 dollars??? I paid $80 for mine because I knew no where else to get it...

Shoot, you can make your own for less than $10, and they work GREAT. Pen tattoo gun, that is. Youtube it. There are LOTS of detail videos in how to do it.

Melissaaaaa nooooo I know where to get it way cheaper !

I use the PenTat but unlike Melissa I paid $60.00 for it, although it's currently dead and I'm looking into buying a clamp set again even though I hate them.

Look in a few Rabbit Catalogs,
try Morton Jones, Klubertanz, or Bass Equipment.
They are all .coms
Check prices and shipping.

I bought a tattoo gun (the entire setup, including extra needles, ink, case, spare parts and a metal case) on ebay for $40, which included shipping. I made one with the Spin Brush, but wanted something heavier duty. I hated the clamp because it took 2 of us to use it and when the rabbit got clamped and would try to escape my husbands arms, he would drop them. They don't feel the tattoo gun much.

For about the same as a a clamp set and EZ tat, you can buy a starter kit off amazon for real tattoos

That said, a real tattoo gun is much more complicated, heavier
but it also is about the same price, gives you a huge amount more control etc. I personally like a 9 round liner big bold letters, back the ear with a ice cube and it makes it much easier on the rabbit, and you too.

These are very good and best rabbit tatto kits and looks very superb. As well as its colours are very fantastic and the background is looks very superb with different types of attractive colours. Share more rabbit tatoo kits.

I use a clamp with the smaller digit/letter size. My main concern--missing those larger veins on tiny ears. I would like to try one of the pens, but between my arthritis and vision, I would probably take some poor rabbits eye out.

oh-- wrap those rabbits real tight like a burrito, and there are fewer escapes and injuries- all around. AS the rabbit grows, so does the tat.

Like most of you,
i would make a terrible tattoo with the Batt-tat.
It would be awfully hard to read Chicken Scratches in a Rabbits ear!
I use the clamp quick release plier. I do not hold the rabbit down.
I place the rabbit on the rugged table, after I have prepared the numbers etc.
I quickly clamp the rabbits ear and move slightly with the rabbit.
Once I have removed the plier I ink the holes using an Acid brush
to rub the ink in. The job done the rabbit is none the worse for ware
and back to it's cage it goes. This system has worked well for me,
whatever you find works best for you is what should be done.

I just ordered a set from Bass Equipment, and shipping included it ran me $72. I ordered the deluxe model (which comes with a full set of numbers and a case) and a set of letters on the side.

I'll let you know what the digits and letters look like (size wise) when they get here.

I've been wandering through the "human" tattoo kits available on ebay, and then hopped over to Amazon and found pretty much the same things for almost the same prices. The idea of a heavier needle setup for almost the same price as the EZtat is very tempting.

It does seem like the clamp style is less..hmm...fuss, I suppose is the word.

but..but...I could put FLOWERS in the ears! (one of my rabbits is named Gladiola) Or on Chocolate Bunny I could tattoo a picture of a DEVILBUNNY!

Shave it's butt and practice....
I keep threatening the dog I'm going to practice on her ears....
look up pig tattoo practice, and put the coffee down before you hit enter.

Ok, for those of you who tattoo rabbits: What is their reaction? do they squeal? struggle?

I have tattoos. I know it is not pleasant, but it isn't torture. However, I am a consenting human. I know not to wiggle. Do the rabbits mind?

And before someone thinks I am nuts for asking, know this--you can castrate a young male pig with a scalpel and they don't even seem to notice, no anesthetic required. I swear, they ignore you. They don't seem to feel it, and there isn't much blood.

But rabbits seem more sensitive? Maybe the solution is to raise a pig and practice on their butt.

Depends, I have done whole tats with a rabbit not moving, others I have taken 3+ trys to do a letter. You get quick on lifting the gun if you do it by hand.

I find that more often then not,
the Bucks are the ones that squeal
while the Does just about never make a sound.
Some do move but if you move with them
it's not really a problem. I do not
bunny burrito or in any other way secure them
when they are to be tattooed. I have heard of
a Dwarf rabbit that when wrapped in a towel
for tattooing jerked and broke it's back.
This is the reason that I will not secure them
but tend to work with them.
If you can't get them tattooed, you could always
Staple their feet to your work area till the
tattooing is completed! :mbounce:

Well, I am a few generations off of registerable stock, so I was just thinking ahead...I think I'll skip the stapling, Ottersatin, and go with the velcro booties. Oh! Or we could make a miniature squeeze chute, and use it for nail clipping too! lol.
