rabbit furs

Here is some of the furs that i finished. I like them. They are still a little damp.. Waiting until they are completly dry before i store them away. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Love the one on the left. beautiful AT what age of rabbit did the pelts come from? What method did you do? I have a son who wants to process rabbit pelts.

A word of caution, if they aren't worked to completely dry they will harden. I made that mistake with the first ones I tanned and I never could get them soft afterwards.

thanks for the caution.. They have to be damp for me to stretch them. Then they dry and then i put the oil on them.

I just re-wet mine, or put them back in the alum soak. Did you use alum? If not, maybe the solution made them less flexible. ALum is known for making the softest, whites pelts.

I found the alum on line from a taxidermy..yes, it is from a am.chin.

The funny thing is... I am checking each rabbit out for there fur. Not good. .. I have 3 males right now that i am growing up for there furs. and meat of course. These ones are champagne fur. I can hardly wait and see how they will turn out.

I found Alum in the Bulk Barn here in Ontario. Not sure if they are in the US.
