Howdy, everyone! Long time no type!

We're still trying to get moved to Houston (VERY long story), but we're nearly there.

The big sticking point right now is the rabbits. We're not ready to buy a new house yet, and we're having trouble finding a place to rent where we can keep our rabbits that isn't a dump and isn't an hour or more commute for my husband.

Selling the rabbits before we go and buying new when we get settled isn't an option. Neither are the "pet boarding" places.

Do any of you live near north Houston and/or know of a place where we could keep our rabbits while we get settled? We have eight adult rabbits, and we'll provide all feed (they're grain-fed) and equipment including cages, cage racks, dropping pans, feeders, hay racks, and water bottles. We will also take care of them--we just need someplace to keep them until we find a place to live that will accommodate the bunnies.

Nice to see you back, Trinityoaks! I know you have been very tied up with this move in recent months and I'm glad to hear the end is in sight. Hope you find someone who can help you out. Have you tried posting on CraigsList or Kijiji for a place. I realize that it is taking a chance to turn to total strangers and I hope a RabbitTalk member will step forward to help you out.

How close would you be to Allen, Texas?
Allen is northeast of Dallas a ways, so probably 5 hours away.

Thanks, Maggie! Might not get to be here much until we get settled, but at least now we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, I'm a little leery of posting there. I emailed the local 4H last night, and my husband called several horse stables. I'm also going to contact some of the local high school FFA (Future Farmers of America) groups, and if push comes to shove, maybe local feed stores.

In a real extreme, I might be able to stay at my mom's for a week or two with the rabbits to buy us a little more time, but she's four hours away from Houston.

__________ Sun Sep 18, 2011 12:35 pm __________

Anyone know anything about the "rabbit railroad" or something like that? Might that be an option? Contacts?
