According to Green Barn Farm's color chart at Coat Color Photo Matrix, a fox otter would carry tan a(t)-, dominant black, full color, dense B-C-D-, and non-extension (fawn) ee. In other words, it's a tan tortoiseshell, with the agouti markings but not the agouti banding on the fur. So, that's the traits we would look for in a fox otter. Does it have tort markings, agouti eye rings/ light inner ear/ light belly, but no fur banding?

So, yes, it does have the agouti pattern eye rings. Step one. Now does the body shade from clear orange at the spine with no other markings on the upper fur?

Yes again. So it does indeed appear to be a fox otter. But here's my next question. Torts come in four 'flavors', depending on the color of the dark points. The color will either be black based B, or the recessive chocolate brown based bb.. If combined with dilute recessive dd, black becomes blue and chocolate becomes lilac. So, you could have a fox otter in any of those shades. Does the dark hair at the tips of the ear look black to you, or dark blue? The face color seems a bit light to me. What color of tort was mom?
