After much debate, it was decided that our small setup(6 cages) was going to be set up in the back of our two car detached garage. My wife and I both use the garage to park in the winter, but there is plenty of extra room and ventilation. Kind of a silly question, but will the headlights have a noticeably negative and or stressful impact on the rabbits? Any obvious cons? The garage door would be up any time a car would be on to exit, park, etc...

That's not a silly question at all! :) I know that a number of members on here have rabbits in their garages, but I don't know that any of them keep their cars in there as well.

However, there are a lot of odd situations that rabbits have had to adapt to, in their various living arrangements with the members of this forum. I would think that, like the bunnies in those situations (dogs, machinery, etc.), your rabbits might initially not like the headlights, but they should get used to the quickly. It shouldn't take long for them to realize that the lights and the door and the car noises never do anything to them. :)

Our rabbits look positively bored when my husband breaks out his circular saw right outside the rabbitry, and he doesn't even do that very often.

I agree that rabbits should get use the lights and activity in the garage, just like house bunnies must get use to the vacuume cleaner, action movies on the TV, dogs barking, loud music etc...

The only negative I can think of is if you warm up your car before using it - the fumes from the exhaust are even worse for rabbits than for people because of their higher metabolism and sensitive respiratory systems.

People also use their garages for painting and storage of pool chemicals which can produce fumes that will be more upsetting to rabbits than bright lights so keep this in mind if as well.

My main rabbit area is in a addition attached to our garage.
I do have 3 maternity cages set up in the garage which I use for rabbits.
Our garage also has our 2 full size trucks and our old street rod car.
At least 1 truck gets used every day. Our garage is pole barn style
which we physically built ourselves. It is 24 ft wide and 40 ft deep.
Half of the front is a sliding door. So when vehicle needs to be started
the door is wide open. That takes care of the fumes.
Keep the truck running for a few minutes, and back it out.
Shut the garage door. In the winter, things get very cold in the garage.
The rabbits are used to the vehicle noise. All the rabbits even in the addition
are subject basically to all the same noises, and temperatures.
