How far away does a rabbit need to be when quarantined? Also, is there anything special, like have a specific quarantine cage or just use the one the rabbit will eventually have anyhow?

I've never used any special cages just put them downwind of my residents or on the other side of the yard. As long as you remember to deal with them last and wash your hands

30 days is the standard quarantine period. :) Most issues should show themselves before that period of time is up.

I would like to add... if there is Anything that comes up when the 'magic one month' is drawing to its end... do Not be afraid to continue the quarantine period.

There was "something" with certain rabbits we purchased last year that made me uneasy. I could not quite put my finger on What bothered me about them. One by one we culled them out. So very glad we kept them Way away from our main herd.

Who knows what would have happened to your herd if you hadn't listened to yourself!

i generally only quarantine for 2 weeks, but then again i always buy from the same breeder and iv'e never gotten or even seen a sick animal from them. my quarantined rabbits stay in a separate barn and get handled after all the others.
