What actions should one take when quarantining a new rabbit? Possibly picking up a new buck tomorrow and don't want to possibly spread anything between him and my does.

I got a new buck and doe from the West Coast Classic, and I will be quarantining them for the next month. I have mine a good 30 ft from any other rabbit. I take care of them last, feed, water, cage cleaning. I do a change of clothes before and after I take care of them to prevent any illnesses being transferred to or from them as well.

Put them as far away from the other rabbits as possible. Preferably with a barrier between them but if not then put them down low to lessen how far urine and snot can travel. Take care of new animals last, don't use the same feed or water containers, and don't re-wear the clothes afterward. Amount of time to quarantine is debated but 1 month is the most common.

Thanks for all your replies! Two does (which came from the same breeder) are in separate cages in the foyer and new buck is now in the quiet back laundry room. Will be dealing with him last and making sure I've really washed my hands in between handling and won't be breeding for at least a month (possibly longer depending on whether the does kindle nicely or not with their current litters). I'll also be doing a parasite rinse in their water with a little bit of sodium sulfamethazine to make sure everyone is off to a good start in their new home ^_^
