Okay, had a polish doe give birth to one very large dead kit early this morning.
She may have some damage, hard to tell at this point.

I had a doe who had 13 kits (one Doa) and I am wondering if fostering kits to the polish doe would be advisable.

1. wondering if it would help in the healing process
2. wondering if the risk is worth it... what if it delays the healing process?

Just trying to sort through this one.

Anyone have thoughts?

So sorry about the doe and if she were mine I would give her 2 or 3 kits to nurse as it will stimulate uterine contraction and help expell any loose bits and restrict bleeding, it will also release the painkiller seratonin and prevent mastitis from adding to her woes.

Poor girl!

I agree with Dood. If her vulva looks okay I would breed her back in the hopes of a larger litter next time.

so my heart is sore now...

I tried to foster... she was so uninterested.

Came home tonight to an almost dead doe with another LARGE kit sticking out of her.

She's now dead as I needed to in order to remove that kit...she was just in too much pain... and I just can't abide an animal in pain.... even with lubrication I couldn't move that kit without hurting the poor girlie....

she was such a nice promising young doe..... and the buck wasn't a big boy at all...anyways.... going away now for a bit...

Sometimes... oh sometimes I hate raising rabbits... and tonight is one of those times....
