I have a few rabbits that need to go to freezer camp. I have a hard time killing them and dh is working too much to be able to do it so I will be harnessing the hormones of some boys that are wanting to impress my dds and putting them to work. LOL!

I thought they were well over 12 weeks but I just counted and they will be 12 weeks tomorrow.

You probably feed those boys sometimes. They should earn their keep! LOL I have 4 daughters, so I can relate...

well the deed is done. It took about an hour to dispatch and clean all 7 rabbits. We had a 15yo boy, 13 yo girl, 12yo boy, 11 yo girl, 10 yo boy doing the work. I mostly supervised. I had to to do a little but not much. This was the second butcher session for these kids so they only needed a refresher. They remembered most of it.

So I finished processing and weighing the meat. Out of 6 rabbits, I got 8 pounds of meat and that is with everything de-boned except the legs. then of course, I have all the bones in the crock-pot for big pot of stew and broth.

Most of these were out of a cali/nzw mix momma and a flemish mixed daddy. The other 2 were from a smaller mutt momma and flemish mix daddy. You sure could tell the difference while I was processing. The mutts didn't have near the amount of meat the others did. that momma will be culled once I have more producing does. I will have 12 does when all my little does are old enough to breed. That should be enough to keep my family of 12 in meat all the time.
