Awww. Somebody loves to love their bunnies.

She is acting so funny...she just about crawls out of the cage when I open it...and she is not feeding this bunch as well as the last litter. I mean, they are doing ok, but not nearly as chubby as her first litter.

Hello,

Old lurker, new poster here. I have found both Rexs and Californians in my area and was thinking about crossing them. What are some of the benefits you see of the offspring? I have also read about Rex genetics and back-crossing kits to the parents to get Rex fur in the 3rd generation, but why do people do this? Does it change up the gene pool or do something to the colors/fur? What are the main characteristics of the offspring you see that differ from both CA and Rex parents typically? Thank you for any insight you can provide, I have definitely been bitten by the rabbit bug!

You know, I don't really know... I decided to try because the buck is a Choco Rex and the doe is a Choco Cal and wanted to see what I would get....it surely was NOT what I was expecting...3 Lilac, 3 Choco, 3 White. I will likely try breeding some of them back to my Rex buck and doe just to see what happens.... What I am *hoping* to get is more Choco Cal...

It depends on what you want out of them. I raise for meat and I like to cross a rex buck to a NZ doe. The rex blood makes them into meat bricks and the NZ gives more size and faster growth besides being great mamas. Callis' are an offshoot of the NZ line so it should work about the same.

My Cals are already meat bricks...can't wait to see what I get!
