this red satin doe was from one of my recent litters, she is over 4 months old now and i would really like to get some opinions on her. i thought she looked worth keeping, but i still don't trust my own opinion sometimes. if some satin breeders or commercial type breeders could chime in on what you think of her it would be really helpful. i tried to get her to pose correctly, i think i mostly succeeded. i know its hard to tell from pictures, but any opinions are valuable to me.

Looks like another meatbrick to me!

I'd like to see a rounder butt though. Which is my opinion on my own rabbits too!

i kinda agree too. the judge made no comment on it when i showed her but i'd like it to be deeper and not so much dip in the loins. at least she's not undercut (i think) :)

Mine need improvement in the loins too, but otherwise seem to be pretty good rabbits.

yup. i've had fun breeding out awful shoulders. first 2 generations got called on it at every show.

Excellent shoulders!
Flat over the top of the hip and hollow over the hindquarters. She may fill out there as she matures, but you can't fix flat. But its not horrible. If you aren't hurting for cage space I would keep her for now and re-evaluate when she is a little older.
It's easier to fix a small flat rise in her offspring by breeding to the right buck than it is to fix low shoulders. You have over come the harder problem. Good job!

Color is a strong point on that rabbit. While it isn't the darkest color red I've seen, she isn't smutty, either. That's a definite plus, as any smut will normally get a red satin thrown off the show table quicker than type ever would. It's not right and it's not by the standard of perfection, but judges will judge a red harder than any other variety listed in the SOP.

The rabbit is not undercut at all, and starts off very well from the neck and across the back. The arc is in the right place, too, but the one fault that I can see a judge hitting her for would be midsection, just forward of the hip. I'd like to see her a bit more developed than the pictures show she is.

Any way you wanna look at it, look me up if you decide you want to part with her. I always have room for a rabbit like that. Seriously.

thanks satinsrule! thats high praise coming from you. she did win BOV at the last show i took her to, but it was a small show which is why i wanted some more opinions. if you ever want some buns from my line your more than welcome, we'll just have to figure out transport :)
