This little girl was saved by my mom from some lady just trying to make money off rabbits and was not taking good care of them...she separated this litter at 4 weeks from the mom..which is illegal btw.
Shes a broken sable martin. Which is a showable color and Im excited to add it to my breeding program.
Shes so sweet..we dont have a name yet for her though!
I have been letting her cuddle with me on my bed as you can see lol so shes spoiled! :)

Über (sometimes spelled ueber or uber).
Not oober...sorry.
=p

If kits can be weaned at 3wks out of necessity, ah well.
cute bun, tho

haha i know but i like spelling it like oober..reminds me of goober for some odd reason LOL
And their digestive system is not ready at 3-4 weeks from switching from nursing to full pellets...either they should be put with another litter or something if you dont want them with the mom. It really is illegal to wean them before 8 weeks. It makes me mad people wean them early just to sell them as a pet cause then the rabbit ends up dying half the time on some kid..

Is it illegal to WEAN them early or to SELL them early? I mean, how would they enforce that if a breeder weans a litter at 4wks and then keeps them till 8wks to sell at that time?

Its illegal to sell them before 8 weeks in Michigan (illegal if you get caught, I've sold at 6 weeks to pet stores quite often, most pet stores in the area refuse to take them after 5 weeks but I lie and tell them they're that young when they really aren't).

That rabbit is CUTE!!!

i hate pet stores for that reason. Pet stores are almost as bad a a rabbit mill. They are half the time dishonest and the people that sell to them are too cuz the age limits..but people will do anything jus to make $$.
And my as you would call them "vermin woolies" are cute arnt they?
This little girl is sure to be a show stopper...i have this feeling about her ..i always get this feelin when a great rabbit comes around happened with a few my sister wanted to sell then when they start winnin its like i knew i kept you for a reason! lol

it is neither illegal or wrong to wean at four weeks. You have to do what works for your herd. Bunnies can be successfully weaned at 21 days... older is often better but not always. Once the kits are out and eating they can be weaned.

Well idk about where u live but in Michigan it is illegal to under 8 weeks.
And just because they are eating pellets does not mean they are completely ready to switch to a full diet of pellets. They are still nursing at that age. I dont really care to argue the facts but its your choice what you do..i know you have better chances at the kits doing way better if they are not separated till 8 weeks. Your right i guess what you want to do with your herd your gonna do it and i know that not weaning before 8 weeks works better for me at least cause im the top breeder in the nation for my breed so i guess thats what works for my herd.

ok sorry that would be correct. its illegal to SELL before 8 weeks..which i believe the law was created to prevent a young rabbit dying on its new owner cause it was not old enough to be away fron the mom. Like it was said you cant police someone from weaning early but that law helps it.

How adorable.

I'm not sure about rabbits, but it is illegal in Ohio to sell most animals under 8 weeks, unless the mother is going with them. I've taken 4wk olds, but it's breeder to breeder, and I had a litter to put them with. It was still hard on the baby, wouldn't eat for the first day, and I don't think I'd do it again. Rabbits are too sensitive.

Does often wean their kits at four weeks and they do fine. Weaning does not have to mean that they are separated from the doe. The doe just stops nursing them. She still grooms them and cuddles with them and, I believe, teaches them good behaviour.

I may greatly dislike Vermin Woolies, but I never said they weren't cute ;) I find my sister's woolies quite adorable! I can't eat them though, so I don't want them.

Lol, goober reminds me of booger!

Here it is illegal to sell/rehome any baby animal before 8wkes. No idea if there is a wean law...
