I have this mixed doe, Sally, who has has several litters for me.
She is a really good mommy doe. Her last litter was 9.
So the babies got old enough and I though I better get her bred
again. It has been a frustrating experience. She just sits there
and shows no interest in the male. I had tried 3 different proven
bucks with her and nothing happened. So she is just taking up
cage space.
Well this morning, she sure surprised me. I went to do the morning
feeding and there she sat with a BIG haystache.
The human got a nestbox in there REAL quick. So far, she has pulled
fur and done everything right. I haven't checked her since noon,
but am hoping to see a litter by the time I get back out there.
I guess the buck must have been really quick the first time I put
them together. And I do stand there and supervise. Note to self,
mark it on the calendar with the first breeding attempt.
