I got in there this morning to check my new babies. She had !! 13 !! babies!!!! My other doe hasn't kindled yet. What if she never does? I won't have a foster :( Now, the man we got them from said one of the does had 12 and fed and raised them all her first litter. After the wreck and subsequent rearrangement, I thought it was the other doe I'm still waiting on, but I could've got that wrong when I got them all back out of travel boxes and back into cages.

Of course she would have them the one time I have to work on Saturday, so I can't post pics until this afternoon. No dead ones and they were all poppy, wriggly, and warm...and already making cute little baby noises :)

hopefully your other doe will kindle and you can move a few over to her my Red NZ had 11 for her first litter and 13 for her second litter but each time I fostered some out so she only had 9 each time makes it much easier on her.

Okay, my other doe kindled while I was working. She had 9, but 2 were dead...one on the wire, not sure about the other. Yay, finally!!! That makes 20 live kits at the moment, God willing they stay that way :)

Sooooo, at which point do I move kits? Should I make sure both moms are nursing before trying to move any? I can move 3 so they both have 10 and that's still a lot to feed, it seems like.

Wow! Start building grow out pens, NOW!

I know, right! I may need more than I thought I would. I almost bought wire yesterday and decided to wait. Wrong decision, lol.

__________ Sat Feb 23, 2013 3:15 pm __________

WOW!!! Now that doe is a keeper! :) Congrats on the nice big litter!!!!

I think you are right. She has a nice pretty nest, too. I think I might steal some of it to save for later just in case.

I agree with Maggie. Check both litters for fed babies. Then decide if you need to move any.

Congrats!!

yup make sure both moms are taking care of business and then even the litters out there is no rush I do it all the time clear up to a week + old

YAY!!! You are having incredibly good luck with these does! First the wreck where no one was seriously injured, now, both kindling successfully! And such nice, large litters! Yep, start building the growout cages NOW :p

And be prepared to fall in love with squishy baby faces when they open their eyes!!! You ain't seen cute until you see baby bunnies with their eyes open :p

Thank you. I'm just glad they had babies. I sure didn't make their pregnancies any easier on them, for sure.

Pictures pending :)
