I am a member of ARBA, but have yet to join the National Rex Rabbit Association. Can I find the Official Standard anywhere, or can I only get it by joining a Rex club?

Order the Standard of Perfection from ARBA. Its 15 or 20 bucks, has the official standard for every breed in it.

I thought we were supposed to get one with our membership...? I just joined recently, but I have not gotten one from them yet...

__________ Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:28 am __________

Did I tell you I am getting some Standard Rex? I am so excited!!!

One Acre, I thought so too, but they just sent a book titled "Raising Better Rabbits and Cavies". It has a general overview of the breeds outlining Varieties, Showroom Classification, Background, General Description, and Senior Weights.

Rex General Description:

The type of the Rex Rabbit is that of a well proportioned animal exemplifying meat producing qualities. Medium body length carrying a good depth with well rounded hips and a well filled loin is what is wanted. Top line should rise in a gentle curve from the base of the ears to the center of the hip and then fall in a smooth curve downward to the base of the tail. The fur is to be extremely dense with an ideal length of 5/8". Fur is to be straight, upright, and the same length and texture over the entire body.

No faults or DQ's are covered, nor proper eye color for different colors, etc.

I can't wait to see your new Rex! Do you have a color in mind, or are you basing your choice on conformation?

Here they are, not the best pics but they are pedigreed and show quality, with no DQ's. I don't really plan to show them, I am using them for breeding.

They send out Raising Better Rabbits and Cavies to new members. The Standard book is a seperate order. ( can't quite remember if it is 15 or 20 $$ for the SOP ). Lots of other good information in it as well as All the breed standards. IMO it is worth the money.
Not certain if the breed club issues their specific breed standard or not... But they should have Good information Discussing the standard.

Ooooh- pretty! The doe looks like a ball. Lots of meat on that Mama! Looks like they are chocolates?

RR, looks like I better order myself a New Years present! You don't have to twist my arm very far to get me to buy a new book.

They call me "The Worm" around here. The malady seems to be genetic (or very contagious, at the very least), because they all suffer from varying degrees of it as well.

We bought a bunch of books for Christmas last week, but had to order some as well. We picked those up yesterday... and a few more... Hubs had to herd me to the register, with me bemoaning the fact that they don't provide shopping carts. We still had Costco to shop at, though- got more books there. Bwa-ha-ha!!! Victory is MINE!!!

I knew there was a reason I liked you....LOLOLOL! My hubs calls himself a "Book-Widower" since once I put my nose in a book, you can't talk to me till I "come up for air"!

Book-Widower! ROFL!!! Hubs is one of those! I have three poor little Book-Orphans too.

Me too!!! We SO must be related....   :book: :book: :book: :book: :book:

Hubs will be so happy to know that I have a long lost relative in Texas! The politics of California drive us insane, and he so-o-o wants to move to Texas.

How many spare bedrooms do you have? More importantly, how big is your BunnyBarn?

Love the reading smiley- haven't seen him before!

*whispers* and if MamaSheepdog moves to TX, she is CLOSER to do Astrex trades with - MWHA HA HAAAA!

Duman, don't think I haven't thought of that- one of my brothers lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas... so I could drive out to trade bunnies, and visit him on the way back. Priorities, you understand... LPR's come first.

If we ever do make it out that way, or they decide to drive to Ca. to visit, we will start planning our nefarious black market bunny trades well in advance! Wont our Husbands be so-o-o pleased?!?
