We cleaned the bunny barn and scoured the cages today because I suspect we have a mite problem. Dusted everything in DE, dusted cages, dusted rabbits.
It was a NICE day outside so 60 degrees and great weather for doing this. Moved all the rabbits outside so they weren't breathing the DE as we spread it.
We also bred my NZW again, her kits are four weeks old. I clipped everyone's nails.
Now, Esmerelda, my only NZW, when I went outside to check on her, is asleep in the nest box. By herself. Her kits are out of the nest box.
I picked her up, checked on her, she's alert, no markings (she has no evidence of mites) no torn nails...nothing. Put her back in...she hops back in the nest box.
Is this a stress thing?
