Someone was selling livestock near a flea market and I stopped in. They had rabbits and I took a look at them. After asking what kind they had they mentioned that, besides the NZW, they also had New Zealand Gray and New Zealand Black. I took a look at them and they had the body and head of a NZW but they were gray and black. They didn't have the red eyes. He also said they were pedigree and he had papers but since I don't have room for more rabbits and wasn't interested in buying them I didn't ask to see them or ask anymore questions.

Anyone ever heard of these or seen NZ gray or black? They are new to me.

Well, I think the "grey" was probably blue. I know NZ's come in black and red, as well as white, so to get the blue, someone crossbred in the dilute gene somewhere.

That's neat. I never new there was black and blue. I knew about red I think. Pretty cool seeing them though. My wife said she liked the blue one but I'm still holding out for SF's.

I have heard of the blacks and blues, and they have recently become available in broken. :)

One breeder on here had a very nice broken red NZ project going, and had to stop for health reasons. :(

"Blues" shouldn't have any "black" on them...

Sorry, I didn't say that well. I meant that the blue rabbits and the black rabbits had the body of new zealands. I didn't mean to say there were also New Zealand rabbits that were blue and black mixed.

I think my doe Licorice is a NZB.

__________ Sat Jan 12, 2013 9:23 pm __________
