i have 2 rabbits in my barn who are not crazy about hay. before i got big on hay all my rabbits would get 1 cup of pellets a day. now they get 2/3 of a cup plus hay each day. i was wondering if i should go back to feeding a cup of pellets to the two rabbits that don't like their hay? i don't want them to starve.

hay feeding has been off and on but i just introduced a steady supply of hay last week. these two rabbits have never really eaten much of it.

When choosing replacement stock, you may want to include in your criteria the ability to do well on the feed you have chosen to give them. Are they maintaining condition on the lesser amount of pellets? If so, it's not such a big deal if they choose to ignore their hay.

why are you giving less pellets to them? hay won't have all the nutrients in it that they need. I'd keep them on full rations until they are all eating hay well and then monitor their condition. if they get fat, reduce, if they maintain then it's all good. That's the thing that's nice about measured feeding...you can give what each individual requires.

Perhaps it's the type of hay. Try a different type. You know they have that bagged hay a tractor supply. You could try that and see if they are just picky or really wont eat hay. Even if you don't want to continue with that hay, it might give you the answer.
