not black, what is it?

Pictured side by side with a black kit about the same age. This kit is NOT black, but I can't figure out what she is. Too young to go through a moult and she's been this colour since birth (so I've been told). She is a return from breeding kit.

This is the clearly black one.

mom's side: blue otter, opal and black silver marten
Dad's side: harlequin, mostly tricolour and black, with a tad bit of tort and chinchilla (yes I know a real mixed bag)

Looks like a chocolate to me, but that's no where in the background.

it's not chocolate.
it's not a dark blue.
it's not ticked.

that's all I know.

I always blame the chin gene It does some wicked things to rabbit colors.
