She has regular poop pellets too, but she is pooping this wet, tarry or pudding like stuff.

I've only had her for two days, her previous owner gave me a bag of food for her, I think she said it is fiesta mix? We feed straight pellets with the occasional oats to my other rabbits. I have yet to give her my pellets.

Could this be due to stress of a new home and being bred for the first time?

__________ Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:10 am __________

I think it is likely unformed cecotropes

Any tips on how to fix her?

Maybe you could post pictures of it?
I think your right, could be just a variation of cecotropes.
Moving, and breeding is a lot of stress for a bunny to go through in a few short days, so that probably has something to do with it.
I wouldn't worry to much as long as she is eating, drinking, and acting fine.
Definitely make sure to feed her some hay, that extra fiber is always helpful for tummy troubles.

It could be squished cecotropes... but she may have something else going on.

I would pull her pellets and give her old fashioned oatmeal and hay. The Fiesta mix has all kinds of "bunny candy" in it- all the dried carrots and whatever other colorful bits it has- so if possible, I would pick that stuff out before mixing with your pellets to transition her to your diet.

I would also give her probiotics- I use a Manna Pro product marketed for large animals (horses, goats, etc.), which you can get at a feed store.

The leaves of raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, and the weeds Shepherd's Purse and Plantain are good for digestive disorders, but I doubt you can find them now. Canned unsweetened pumpkin is also good for firming the stools.

This is a link to a page with the ingredients of Kaytee's "Fiesta Max" food. It seems to contain a lot of fruit; maybe she's sensitive to sugar?

As well as everything else she's dealing with, poor dear. :(

MSD has good advice. :)

__________ Wed Dec 04, 2013 1:18 pm __________

So looking at their poop vs my other rabbits poop, I am 90% certain that they are at the beginning stages of GI Stasis, their poop is 1/2 the size, dry and hard, like elderberries, where are my rexes' poop is the size of a cocoa puff.

I agree with the advice above

Does she still want to eat or drink? If she is I'd be optimistic that with a little TLC she'll recover.

If she's not drinking I'd be really concerned and would consider giving her an electrolyte solution as well. Maybe not mixed with her regular water (as it my turn her off of it) but oraly with a small syringe. I get an apple flavored powder from the farm store but I bet any type of gatoraid would work.

also if she's not drinking and you are using a water bottle I would offer her a crock of water.

that's a rabbit with some intestinal stress going on. Give her lots of hay, pick out the "fiesta" part of her pellets... leave the grains behind).

Encourage her to drink... even if you need to wet down some parsley for her.

I gave her some pumpkin mixed with oats, and lots of hay. I brewed some chamomile tea and mixed in a tiny bit of honey and put it in her water bottle.

Sophia, the other one, I noticed has teeny tiny poop, and she hasn't eaten at all, except to eat the bad parts of the fiesta mix off the top layer. I gave her tea in a crock and just plain pumpkin puree, which she ate and now she is munching on some hay, so I think that is a good sign.

I've seen improvement in both since giving them some pumpkin.

The cecotropes have more form to them

She is also fond of laying on that side of the box and depositing them right *there* where she lays
Also, I feel incredibly odd taking poop pics LOL
:pancake:

I had this problem. I thought it was the food change but after a week I took it to vet and he said it was an early stage of vent disease!
