This is my nethies sire. Can any of you tell if he is a black silver marten that is sun bleached and looks brownish— or is he a seal or sable? The triangle patch of fur behind his ears looks like silver-chinchilla and his belly is silver-chinchilla.

first picture looks black, but the bottom looks seal... hmmm... i think i'd vote black. but keep him inside away from windows for a while and see if the brown cast stays even after a molt.

That is most definitely a silver marten, a seal would not have the ticking or lacing. When the coat dies or has too much sun exposure it does rust.

Handsome Nethie Sire. My Dobby (Sable Marten) and Willard (Sable) get patterns like that in their coat when getting ready to molt. But since they are inside, not sunburnt. Amazing what the sun will do to rabbits fur. Never would have thought that fur gets sunburnt. Nor would I have thought that rabbits coats could be darker if a kit gets cold.
