I heard Thumper digging in her cage this morning, and didn't think anything of it. Tonight, she's actively nesting AND pulling fur! The catch is, she's only 4 1/2 months old, and has never been bred! She's been on her own since she was 8 weeks old, and has never been in with any of our bucks. She is across the isle from our new buck in the rabbitry though, he's only been in there for 2 weeks now.

What does this mean?

This means:
It is either a "False" pregnancy,
Or! She was bred by a litter-mate brother before she was weaned.
I would give her a nestbox just to err on the safe side.
You don't want to lose a possible litter because,
"I didn't think she was pregnant".
I hope everything ends on a plus note.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

It's been 10 weeks since she's been caged with anyone, so this is a false pregnancy then. Would this be a sign of anything potentially negative for this does breeding career?

Nah, just her hormones doing what they naturally do...I start looking to breed mine at 4mos. I check them for readiness beginning at 16wks and I put them with the buck when I see that they look ready. If they don't readily breed, I take them out and try the next week. They will breed when they are ready, I don't force any rabbits to breed or force them to wait.

Thanks, Shannon. :) She's gonna have to wait, I'm to nervous to breed early again after our recent disaster with Sammy and Hazel. Seems like we were doing so good for so long, and then all of a sudden everything goes wrong lately. It's frustrating, and I think I'm not gonna push my luck anymore.

Yeah, I can understand that.... :)
