So I currently don't have straw. But I have hay... SO my thought was mix some hay with some shredded cardboard to soak up the wetness.. Do you guys think that would work? Or should I go get some straw?

Pine shavings make a great bedding. If I don't have any hay I will also add shredded brown paper that I put through our document shredder. It lofts very nicely when mixed with fur.

Well as of right now she has hay in her cage but only some shredded cardboard in the box. She's dug most of the paper shreds out... I bred her once on 5/31 and again on 6/3 so her due date is between 6/31 and a few days past 7/3. Maybe I've gave it to her too early. This is the third time she's been bred and the first two she didn't take or absorbed from stress. She literally has only been petted like once through her pregnancy so I'm hoping she's took. She looks like she did this time her belly looks like it's round and kinda weighed down and I've seen what look like kit shaped lumps be pushed out of her side.. I kinda think it might be a big litter because of that but who knows?!
