I want to keep a good mini rex breed going and right now i have no buck to breed to my doe! I am seriously considering showing my doe but i dont have her lineage. does it matter? I have a line on a good looking blue buck StarStruck's Rebel #REBEL at this link http://www.starstruckrabbitry.bravehost ... rsale.html but i need to come up with the money first or i am thinking StarStruck's Equinox #EQ. wich do you think i should get?

I am, admittedly, a newbie to the breed, but I would go with Equinox. I don't think Rebel is a good example of the breed at all.

Maybe someone more experienced than me will chime in . . .

You do not need a pedigree to show a rabbit. You only need one to register them.

Honestly I'm not a fan of any of those Mini Rex the shoulders and the Hindquarters are the hardest thing to fix in Mini Rex and their fur looks like it's lacking density and texture. It's not a good thing to start with.

I'd buy the $20.00 black fromhttp://www.rabbitrunrabbitry.com/ over the $35.00 blue. Or even one of those broken black otter bucks before I would consider one of those blues.

rabbit run is just way to far away for me to travel. I was thinking of trying to get her to lower her price on the sable points. I do have someone emailing me some pic from boise

are they close enough to meet half way?
have you inquired about their willingness to travel or help transport a bunny?

Never know what you can work out if you don't ask. :)

All the more reason to attend a rabbit show in a neighboring state when it happens. You'll meet exhibitors you'd perhaps not meet otherwise, and see the animals you're considering buying firsthand.

I totally agree with DevonW
I would go with that $20.00 Black
He has much more to offer than those others.
As always, JMPO.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

pastel,
Have you tried http://www.angelrabbitry.net? He has a lot of good quality mini rexes and he is in Weiser, which is closer to you than Kimberly. He is very knowledgeable and has been raising rabbits for over fifty years.

Those rabbits just look weird for some reason. I'm not sure if it's the faults or the posing. None of their feet sit right. I don't know if they are all pinched or like I said if they were just posed wrong. All their shoulders look odd and it seems like most peak late. I wouldn't touch that entire line.

Check the arba website for shows in your area. You can usually find lots of rabbits for sale at shows (never go without a carrier and exactly the amount of money you are willing to spend). Many breeders will tell you what shows they are going to and are willing to haul along an extra rabbit if you contact them ahead of time.

I am in twin falls area. lol they are closer than the ones in moscow. I will keep looking though.

Sorry about that, for some reason I thought you were in Caldwell. Must be some one else on the board... Or was that someone else on homesteadtoday forum. :?

Out of the 2 I would pick Equinox, but truthfully, I agree with the above posters that they all seem to look odd. It may just be the posing, but I would ask for more pictures before committing to buying.
