So, I'm running out of cute and clever names for my meat rabbits. The problem is, I'm super fussy about keeping the names "Food Themed" and they have to be cute and something that rolls off the tongue easily.

Currently I have

Tofu, my NZW doe
Eddie, my NZR buck
Apple, my escape artist NZ doe(she's chestnut, from a R x W cross)
Pear, my other escape artist NZ doe(also chestnut, full sister to Apple)

I need to name a GTS NZ doe(Eddie x Tofu) and I'd like a name for whoever wins of my contenders(I have 2, one's a broken GTS, the other's a broken black, both bucks, I'm keeping whoever's biggest at butcher time).

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hmmm, I wish I had thought of Hummus as a name when I was naming Apple and Pear - their momma is Chickpea, LOL.

I'll name whichever contender loses Toast, because that's what he'll be ;)

At the Backyard show at Bakersfield this past weekend, there were some Rex in the class named by the breeder's nephew. She likes to do themes for each litter- and the little boy decided to name them after his favorite condiments. They were Mayo, Mustard, Ketchup, Sourcream, and Salsa. Another Rex breeder I know also does themes (yearly) and this year's theme was alcoholic drinks.

Maybe you should pick a class of food for each litter or sex; fruit, vegis, meat, herbs, spices, or something like that. Or foods that start with a specific letter... :?

It's really what catches my fancy at the moment, limiting it to food stuffs is about as much of a theme as I can handle, making it too restrictive makes me just give up on it, lol!

I can't name one Meatloaf, I already have one named Eddie :p

Tequila

I just looked up Tequila brands, and they have some pretty great names... my favorite of which (as an omen of future breeding success!) is Hornitos.

You can see the list here:

Tequila is the DEVIL!!!

I'm going to have to bookmark this thread and just return to MSD's extensive lists whenever I need a name, lol.

Love your list Grumpy! Well for my meat breeders I am going with Cooking implements i.e.: Kettle and Stew Pot, for the babies they will be named after our favorite foods for each litter. I am living with an 11 year old that LOVES my "fuzzy little hoppy bunnies who love to cuddle and lick." I will be coming back to MSD's list as well

dinner.

Can't use those, that's what all the babies are called. I don't name the eatin' bunnies, just the breedin' bunnies.

I think the buck is going to be named Taco, and the doe is going to be named dinner, though... I put all of my grow outs together, and can now no longer tell which GTS doe is the 8wk old NZ, and which is the 10wk old 3/4ths NZ. Can't say I thought that through very well!!
