On Aug. 30 I had a litter of Holland Lop kits born to my broken sable point doe by my solid tort buck. There were four kits born; 1 broken tort, two sable points, and one little mystery kit.
Mystery kit with sable point siblings:
Mystery kit:
Whole Litter:
The genetics of both parents are as follows:
(dam) Broken sable point doe: aaBBc(chl)_Ddee
(sire) Solid black tort buck: aaBBC_Ddee
From a genetics point of view, I don't think this match should produce anything darker than a black tort, but this kit seems too dark to be a tort. Does anyone have any idea what color this might be or if it is just a very dark tortoise shell? Neither parent carries the extension gene (E) so there is no way it can be a blue, black, or siamese sable, so what else?
Thanks!
*edit* Yes, I am sure of the genotypes I filled in.
*edit 9/10/12" Updated pic of the "mystery kit". I'm thinking maybe just a dark tort...
