It's hard to believe that they aren't getting too cold when you see frost on their whiskers :( Everyone seems fine though. It was 12 F in the rabbitry this morning. They are enclosed, so no wind or rain/snow hitting them, just extremely cold.

The frost would probably be from them cleaning themselves, getting it just damp enough to make it visibly frosted. Just make sure everyone's got some place warm to cuddle up, and remember that they have a nice thick fur coat all over their bodies!

Drafts are the big concern with bunnies. Rabbits do so much better in the cold weather than heat with those nice fur coats they have on. If you want give them a box of hay or straw so that they can find a place where they can snuggle.

Z-Tribe can't complain. Inside living is very comfortable for them. Plus we keep it a bit cooler here as well. Helps the humans pay the bills, lol.

Frost on their whiskers is no big deal- the moist warm air they exhale is just freezing on their whiskers. :)

I used to feel really bad for my horses too.

Horses have something like 16 (or is it 29?) different positions they can adjust their hair to so they can regulate their temps. A lot of people blanket their horses in the winter, even those with natural coats. But they aren't really doing them any favors, because a blanket smashes the fur flat to the body.

Often you will see a horse "blanketed" by snow- the snow doesn't melt because the horse's fur is trapping all of the body heat.
