Someone asked me to post pictures of my nest boxes a while ago and I have finally gotten around to it.
To maximize cage space I hook my homemade 10x10x20 wooden nest boxes over the door of the cage and the top has a hinged roof with a latch to prevent escapees.
I also dont have a problem with does defecating in the boxes or having their kits on the wire, which others seemed to have had problems with, I dont know if I am just lucky or if my next box design is the reason.
Okay, I was a little slow on the uptake. I had seen you post that they hung on the door before, but I was visualizing a box hanging on the inside of the door and I couldn't fathom how you got the door open unless you had huge door openings. *facepalm* Now I feel like a dork for not "getting" it. However, that is a great way to save cage space and have easy access to babies. Cool idea.
How does the cage not flip when mama goes inside the nest? do you have to put cement blocks on top of the cage or are they permanently attached to something like the wall?

I have a T-post nailed to the back wall and hooks to prevent cages from tipping but allowing me to remove a cage easily if needed, but bricks would work
