You know how it would appear that you dog LOVES the water? Well that is unless it involves the bathroom and the dreaded shower. Today was bath day. I believe with all my heart that I got more of the bath than Sage did. But he is clean now, moping all the while he is finishing air drying.

Benefit of spitz breeds. We call them catdogs partially for their cleanliness. They can go bolting through the mud and within 15 mins of laying on their blanket they'll be clean. Occasionally we use the dog bath section at a car wash in town for fur removal. No way you want to stick a shedding japanese spitz breed in your bathtub unless you plan to call a plumber. Most of the time they go a year or 2 without baths and live indoors with no dirt or smell maintenance required.

That has got to be awesome. Sage only gets a bath once every 6 to 8 months. His fur is one of those dry and brush. Often when he has been rolling in mud I would just put him in his crate for a nap, usually needs one, and after about an hour he comes out and there is a dirt outline of him left behind.

Today he had that dog "funk" so bath time it was.

I feel your pain, Sagebrush.

My German Shepard has been seen on many an occasion romping or even lying down in the creek. But a bath??? Torture. She spends the entire time fighting me to get out A 90 pound dog actively pushing and pawing at me is quite a workout.

Hahaha my mini mutt surely is a city dog!!! He gets a bath once every month or two, because he starts feeling gross. Especially in the spring-summer-fall, he LOVES rolling in the dirt(not mud, dry dirt, he hates getting wet at all.) Luckily, at all of 16lbs and very obedient, he is super east to bathe ;)

I don't normally give my dogs baths at all.
My pittbull Deimos simply doesn't get dirty or stinky. He's old. He spends all day sleeping in his dog bed, or my bed. I use him as a pillow. He just doesn't make stinky dog BO. The newf, ...now there's a dog I wouldn't want to give a bath inside!

He will hop in the tub to ask me to clean his paws if he feels they are muddy or dirty, but thankfully, he also doesn't roll in mud!
We did have to hose him off outside this summer because he went on a digging spree. I might hose him off once or twice a year, but I won't put soap on his waterproof coat.
You can tell they are town dogs by how little mess they get exposed to.

Hahaha. My mom hates the stinky dog smell! So sadly, I have to end up bathing my dog every other week.
She is a miniature poodle, and gets bathed every week, but I only bath her every other week, because my sister baths her on my off weeks. We take turns every week. ;)
