After a lot of reading, most of it here at Rabbit Talk, (Thank you all for sharing your knowledge and experience.) here is what I came up with to get myself started in raising rabbits...
Building a shed or barn wasn't something I wanted to do. (For now.) I just took down and hauled off two empty chicken coops, and am enjoying my less-cluttered backyard. Our two-car attached garage is laundry room, workshop, and yard equipment storage, but I managed to move things around to make room for a "bunny buggy".

It isn't perfect, but so far I'm really happy with how it's working out. That's a plastic shower curtain underneath, with a little bit of pine shavings. A daily dumping and hosing off keeps the smell down. Once a week, I can transfer the bunnies to transport cages, roll it out on the driveway and hose the whole thing down, let it dry, and move it back in. The only wood is the cart frame on the bottom. The "poop chutes" are made of architectural PVC sheeting.
The top cages are kind of high, and the bottom cages are kind of low, but I'll manage. The cages are big for my small rabbits. 36x30 and it's hard to reach into the back. I have one rabbit that's been needing to come out once a day (More on that below.) but I'm finding I can coax her into the front were I can grab her without too much chasing her around.
I removed the glass from the overhead door and replaced it with window screen. Between that, the window on the side wall, and a fan to draw in fresh air, it's about the best I can give them over the hot Florida summer, without air conditioning.

To me, setting up a routine is the best way to stay on top of something, and we're falling into one. Clean up, pellets and fresh water every PM, hay in the morning, and a full wash-down on Saturdays.

So here they are...
I originally planned on only Florida Whites for meat, but couldn't resist the Havans that were also available from the same breeders. From what I gather, Havanas are "acceptable" for home meat production? The fur has my wife talking about making slippers for Christmas presents. ;)
The FW buck is probably about ready to fulfill his purpose. everyone else is three or four moths old. All seemed to say "Get that thing out of my face!" to the camera.

My "problem child"... There was a mix-up. I either got the wrong rabbit, or the wrong pedigree. The tattoo doesn't match. It's a long story, but he's supposed to be mailing me the correct papers for this rabbit. On top of that, a few days after we got her, I noticed that she has a foggy right eye. He say it wasn't that way when we left. Returning her isn't an option. It was a nine hour drive, round trip. The eye doesn't seem to bother her. I've been spaying it with Vetericym once a day, and the feed store was supposed to get some Terramycin ointment in tonight. I'm hoping for the best.

If you've made it this far, thanks so much for reading! Any thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcome. :D

VERY cool set up! And great looking rabbits as well.

As far as the heat goes, I would get a thermometer and put in there and keep an eye on the temps. If need be, since you were smart and put your Bunny Buggy on wheels, you can move it outside if it gets too hot. Another option I use during the summer is to freeze water-filled soda bottles and put them in the cages.

Just a side note: if you have azaleas or roses, they would love to get some of the shavings/poo from time to time. :)

That is an awesome set up! Just have to remember to make your cardboard for your nest boxes so they will slide out for cleaning day. Which means trimming the top of the ends and duct taping the cardboard or zip tying the corners for easy removal. LOL. Sorry to hear you didn't get the right doe. Hopefully it all works out. Looking forward to all the updates on how it is going. :)

THAT is friging AWESOME !!!!

Now you just need a second one for grow outs :p

The doe might have had nestbox eye as a kit and some scar tissue over it

Thanks! I already have an old poultry brooder thermometer hanging on the buggy. There's insulated attic space over the garage, but moving them outside is a good option. I'll have to play it by ear. No azaleas or roses these days, but I should look into using it on my fruit trees.

I guess even if everything goes fine, I'll be wanting to expand my gene pool at some point... Maybe, search a little harder for a (much) closer supplier of FW stock?
My Sani-nests ended up in the back corners of the doe cages. This worked out with the floor braces and gave me clearance for the chutes. As was done in the other thread, I left half of them covered by the floor wire, but with the opening right in the corner. Thinking back to my childhood guinea pigs, this might not have been a smart move... The pigs tended to poop right in the corners. :hmm:
I put large ceramic floor tiles in each cage for resting on and as nest covers, thinking I would slide them over to expose the opening at nesting time. We'll see... So far, my bunnies are very indiscriminate about where they do their business and they don't seem to care one way or the other about the tiles.
If it was me, It would bother me to have my toes hanging through the bottom of the cage like they do.

Nice setup!! Where did you get the pvc sheeting from for the waste trays? I love that idea!!
It's a product called "Kleer". It's available in exterior paneling, trim and moldings. I'm a cabinetmaker and use the sheet material for building outdoor cabinetry. BBQ kitchens, etc. ...Scraps from the shop. ;)

VERY impressive!! Great job. I love the way it has wheels to be rolled outside.
That would be so convenient. I need some wheels for my stackable cages.

Thanks for sharing.

I must have hit the lunch break posting hour.
Thanks all! :D

One of the bottom cages was supposed to be for grow outs... and the plan was 3, not 4 rabbits.
I have time.........

Thank you!! I'll look that up or maybe find a cabinet shop that may have some 'scraps' laying around.
