At least very seriously considering it. We're selling nearly all the mini rex and a pair of parakeets and moving in to my husband's condo unless we find something in the HOA that prevents the number of animals we have. I made a list of positives and a list of negatives and while positives only won by one reason it had more compelling arguments. I know I'm keeping my little pet doe and we're going to try to keep a trio of meat rabbits at my mom's house. We'll see how that goes since nothing is simple when dealing with my family (part of why we're moving). I don't know if I want to keep a buck or another doe and continue breeding mini rex on a very small scale or sell them all and if I want to breed get a pair of ND in the fall.

Now if only I could start packing right now. I want to just spend the day putting everything in bags and boxes but I don't know for certain we are moving. The contract is at the condo and we need to price vinyl floors since there's no way I'm dealing with carpet and dogs, birds, rabbits, sugar gliders.... It's way too much work compared to just sweeping things up. So I impatiently wait 6pm when my husband gets home and we can decide if this is a concrete idea.

Checked the regulations (can't believe I'm living under a HOA) and there is nothing about number of pets except no more than 2 dogs and no exotic pets. No definition of exotic. I guess our sugar gliders could count but they aren't going to cause anyone trouble and they sleep all day so no one should even know they exist. That means we are moving. I've gone from excited to "omg I can't believe I'll live in a condo for the next 2 years" and back to "this is probably the best idea". Packing time.

We are taking out a no interest loan to redo the carpet in laminate and replace the very crappy washer/dryer combo with front load stacking ones. Judging by what condos with similar modifications sold for we should get the money back out of it when we move anyway.

Congrats on your decision! I hope it goes well for you. I, too, would check on the definition of 'exotic'.

The email response from them as to what constitutes an "exotic" is "Animal kept as a pet which is not commonly thought of as a pet". Rabbits and parakeets should be safe with that description. I'm not planning to try to keep any more serama chickens inside so I think we're good.
