Hubby finished the other bank of rabbit hutch's for me on Mothers day. Now I can get to breeding! Too bad we didn't get them finished a couple of months ago! Would have been great to have rabbits ready for the bbq on the 4th!

Ah well, we still have three that need butchered so I'm thinking about keeping them in the freezer until then. At least we can have a little bit of rabbit bbq during the family reunion.

So, if I breed them today (and they take) I should put nest boxes in on June 4th?

Gives hubby enough time to get them built! LOL ;)

Whoo-hoo! Hubs finally fixed my water system as a belated B-day gift... (at least that's what I'm telling myself)...

28 days is the norm, which would be the 12th.

Hope you get some nice litters! :p

You should let my doe know that  She had a litter on the 27th day! I just opened up the back of the hutch to give her more straw and laughed

Lol... well they do like to keep us guessing!

My does usually kindle on the 30th or 31st day. If I notice a hay mustache before day 28, I give them a box early. :)

I like this idea and might have to do that. At least you'll be able to next year! Or for Labor Day, even!

Do you kill and put them straight into the freezer without cleaning?

Haha! Sorry I didn't see this sooner!

Of course I kill them first ...

And yes, I will clean them before putting them in the freezer.

Just meant that we wouldn't eat them until the family reunion, hence keeping them frozen until then. Of course, they're getting a bit on the "old" side so they won't be fryers. They're about 5-6 months old now so .... I'm not sure how to cook them.
