So that pointed kit ... the one we labeled blue sable point marten. Her eyes are now brown. They have slowly changed from med blue, to gray/blue, to brown. Here are some current pictures. Does that label still fit? Her dam is a Tort (Fern) and her sire is a Palomino (Thumper) that throws shaded and otters.

She has light pointing on her feet, top of her tail, ears and nose (not quite butterfly, but more than just nose)

In my current nest boxes, I have 3 shaded kits out of a Palomino doe (Ruby) and a Palomino buck (Thumper). 2 look the same as the pointed kit above, except that their eyes were brown right from the start. One of them looks different though. It was hard to catch it in pictures. Hopefully you can see what I am talking about.

This is it next to one of the other shaded kits.

She really didn't want to hold still! You can see her tail in this picture.

Also, out of Wheezy (Agouti) and Shadow (Black), we got a few that are throwing me.

The chins have blue eyes. It is actually really striking in person. They are very bright blue.

I also have a black kit with blue eyes from this litter. I tried googling it and it was talking about self-chins and a bunch of stuff that just confused me :p

She just looks like a Cali colored kit to me...

The older pointed kit? Except I don't have Cali's.

Another pic of her before he eyes changed.

If she was a Cali she'd have red eyes.

It still applies, she just isn't a blue one, or only has one dilute gene. There really isn't any other colour that is almost white but with dark (or blue/grey) eyes and 'pointed' ears

The other option is shes a frosty. Here is a link to all the 'frosty' genotypes

http://www.nockrabbits.com/frosty.html

But the ears don't fit the description

On second thought if it's a self, dark shaded, non-extension rather than self, light shaded, non-extension (ie sable point) I think this may be the result.

The self 'aa' will prevent any ticking or ring colour bands
The 'cchd_' will change any yellow pigments to white
And the 'ee' will make any shorter hairs look dark.

We're talking about the older doe, right?

I don't think we can have a self since Thumper (sire) is Aat and Fern (Tort) is aa. Our only options are Aa or ata, right? We know Thumper has Ccchl since he sired a frosty in his first litter with Wheezy (Agouti). We don't know Fern's recessive on the 'C' allele yet. 'ee' is for sure since both of them carry that.

What are your thoughts on the other shaded kits? They are from Thumper (Aat B_ Ccchl D (d? since now we are questioning the blue) ee)
Ruby (Aa B_ Ccch D_ ee)
I am really curious about that shaded kit that is colored differently.

The non extension seems to have a neutralizing effect on the tan based colours 'at' - case in point - your torted otters. So an 'aa' non extension rabbit would look simialr to a 'ata' non extension but may have the lighter eyeliner and nose.

The shaded kit with a cream tinge may have the wideband gene affecting it. It is used in the Palomino and Chinchilla breeds to get better colour. Wideband is recessive and two copies will double the length of the yellow pigments on an agouti rabbit's hair shaft, and if the kit is a frosty and wideband you may get this effect. The genotype would be 'A_ B_ cchd_ _ _ ee ww"
