I have attempted to pose my 2.5 week old mini rex kits, at least 5 of the 7  How are they looking so far? I am debating on if I should keep any since mom is a bit messy with bad feet.

Please keep in mind that I am totally new at this myself, but I am going to try anyway- hopefully the more experienced will chime in, and I can learn along with you!

The first black kit pictured (marked black #2) has nice depth and looks very balanced, but it is also posed the best.
The second kit (marked black #1) looks long in the shoulder and the height of it's back peaks too far forward (not at point of hip), but it's rear feet are way too far back. If posed correctly, I think there would be a big improvement and the shoulders wouldn't look long.
The broken blue has nice round hindquarters, but looks a little long in the neck, but it's front legs are not flush to the ground, and it's back foot is a little far forward.
The blue is set up nicely, but looks narrow in the shoulders.
The REW looks long in the shoulders- see how the back rises up after the shoulders? But it also looks pretty tense, so that could be throwing it off.

By the way, I commend you on your attempts to get them set up and evaluated- I've tried it myself, and know it isn't easy! I think you did a great job getting them posed as well as you did... they aren't very co-operative, are they? I think working with them like this at a young age will make future handling so-o-o much easier!

so far i also really like black #2, but I am new to this so it really helps to see what others think. I have been going to different sits and looking at pictures of different MR's and trying to get mine to pose like that so i can compare pictures.

It was hard to get them to sit still  everytime I would get ready to take the picture they would scoot backwards! The rew would really flip out and almost jumped off the table. Oh well practice makes perfect.

I was thinking pretty much the same thing.

As we say in dogs, some people are just born with an eye for a good animal.

for the most part I agree with mamasheepdog.

Could you tell us in what aspects your opinion differs? I only started with Rex (standard) in April of last year, and am eager to learn so I can better evaluate my own stock. Thanks! :D

Ok, here is my detailed eval.
Black #2 is worth keeping. You are right in every aspect.
Black #1, I don't think the back feet are off all that much and although adjusting might improve it a little, I don't think it will make that big of a difference.
The broken, you said it, nice butt.
The blue, although hard to tell without a top view, I think this animal may be narrow front to back. It looks like it slopes off too early in the rear and might be a tad hippy.
The REW, cannot agree nor disagree with msd's comment. the bun is posed all wrong and a re-do might change everything.

mamasheepdog, if those are the evaluations you have come up with after only having rex for 10 months, then you have nothing to complain about. You are evaluating very correctly. It took me a lot longer than that to learn to evaluate that good after I got my first meat rabbits.

I also will say again, I am impressed with OP's ability to properly or near proper pose babies that tiny. I have had meat rabbits for nearly 20 years and I still can't pose babies very well. The pictures are so cute.

Thank you very much for your kind comment! (I think I can feel my head swelling though! )

One of my biggest fears was starting out with good rabbits and ruining them with my bad judgement. I am glad I am on the right track. Thank you for your evaluation!

Thanks! I tried hard and it took awhile to get them to pose and as you can see not all of them wanted to cooperate  I am still learning and keep practicing need to develope that eye :D

I wish I could keep the black but he is a buck and I dont need anymore boys, and i had to put mom down for various health reasons.

As they are now black #2 is probably the best of the lot and worth trying out with the feet so straight. I'd cull #1 for sure, the blue peaks late so is long somewhere but not horribly at this point, the spotted is hard to tell, the rew I would guess will peak late as well when posed correctly and I would probably cull unless you notice some trait you really like as it grows.

here is the black and the REW doe now at 4 weeks 3 days old. My camera was not cooperating with me today so most of the pics turned out blurry
