Not they are not the same, different body type. Minis are more compact.
But if you are not showing, who cares?
You will still get the Rex fur. You can find a large mini Rex doe or a smallish Rex buck that will suit each other. I imagine if the pairing is not right, the doe might have trouble delivering bigger kits, maybe, maybe not.
