So I did some breeding with a fairly young bucks.
Jan 8th and on.....
Buck 1 did an ok job.. at least one fall off per doe:
Forward 28 days....
I have an experienced doe that is CLEARLY prego... beautiful nest built with spiraling hay,, really a work of art!
Her daughter is housed right next to her... she does not look prego.. she is a proven doe... bread same day as mom Jan8... put her in again with Buck Jan 28, fall off..... just in case, I gave her a nest box... this morning it is clear she has built a nest. (could she be reacting to Mom's hormones?)
The other doe is also young first timer, but clearly prego and has yet to build a proper nest.. (new moms make me sooooo nurvious!
Buck 2, younger buck
He was enthusiastic, but never had, what I would call a fall off......
Red doe, has been placed with him a couple times a week since Jan8 to see if we could get a fall off.... nothing... but, Red Doe has a bit of a tummy, no obvious kickers?? She has a nest box just in case.
Young first time Silver; Wouldn't let the young buck even have a chance... no obvious baby buldge at all... no nest box provided (but I might stick one in tonight, just in case)
Now the waiting starts... UUUGGgggg ... this should fry my nerves as I have a first time mom and a cold barn... worried that kits will be born on the wire or fur won't be pulled... at least I have one very experienced doe that loves to have kits... she won't let me down and she is very ready to pop!
