I'm going for my registrar's license and then my judging license soon after. I'd love to specialize in "marked" breeds, English Spots, Harlies, Tans, Checkereds, etc.

Does anyone have a site with photographic comparisons (besides Harlies)? I read the standard, but I can learn better if I see comparisons of the good, bad, and the ugly right in front of me rather than read and try to picture it in my head.

Thanks!

A lot of the various breed clubs have very informative Guide Books with a lot of that info in them.

I was quite pleased with the Guide Book from the Pal club ... it had color photographs and some excellent articles in it. Hopefully other clubs would be as good.

Doesn't ARBA have a registrar's package/book that you have to study? I think just visiting a LOT of different websites of these breeds you will be able to pick up what fits the standard. Registrars don't specialize and I know that judges sometimes do the same few breeds, but they are required to know all the breed standards.

Do you have the 2011-2015 SOP? I know several of the marked breeds have detailed drawings of what is okay and what isn't. Off the top of my head, Harlequins, Dutch, and English Spot all have excellent images from the sides, top, etc. and many of them, too.

Best of luck!

Lauren

I don't have the newest SOP, that's on my list when I get some spare money. Broke college child >.<

I know that registrars don't specialize, and I do plan on knowing all of the breeds, but I would like to specialize. It's very frustrating to throw a Harlequin up on the table and for the judge not to know what to do with it, it's happened more than a few times.

Haha, I've felt the same way when I watched a judge try to judge a Thrianta as a mini NZR!
