I really could KICK myself in the butt. We thought we were moving out of state in March and I sold ALL our rabbits, cages, etc. Well it turns out we didn't move and now we have to start all over.

We had a BEAUTIFUL 3 hole carrier (see attached picture) that I sold for $25 and I could just kick myself.

So I'm thinking about buying the stuff to build one. Sure it won't be as beautiful as this professionally made one, but something is better than nothing and I'll never find a used cage like this again.

So I've read on this board that 14 gauge wire is the best to use. I guess I would need welded wire that is 1" x 2" holes for the sides and top, then 1/2" x 1" for the floor.

I've read that Lowes sells a drywall mud pan that is 26"x20" that might work for the bottom. I'm wondering if there are any other "inexpensive" pans that might work for light duty transport????

Also I'm wondering what to use the inside walls that separate the rabbits? All the professionally made ones have some hard plastic walls. Is there anything I can get that is inexpensive and will work too?

I looked at the Bass website as was mentioned in other threads. To get a 3 hole with metal pan would be $55 shipped. Really doesn't seem worth it to me.

I would like to price out what it would cost to make my own.......... and then kick myself in the butt for selling this beautiful one that we HAD!

Thanks for your help!

It's worth a trip to get supplies here... And I think they have a three hole one like this made up. Not too expensive at all.

318 miles one way, over 5 hours each way........ from my house........... Nope, don't think that will work. :D

Your avatar leads me to believe you are going to have hollands?
If so, them or many other breeds, you won't need 14ga wire. Get yourself some 16ga 1x1 wire and some 1/2 by 1 wire.
I have a carrier that has the dividers made from the same wire as the rest of the carrier.

-- Tue Jun 23, 2015 6:08 am --

Your avatar leads me to believe you are going to have hollands?
