so since I ran into issue with my pedigree program (due to a computer crash).....
I've had to look into all my manually kept records and have discovered an important factor.
MOST of the seasonal illnesses I've gotten occur in THREE cages.
Two are near the end of my rabbitry, one in the middle.
Let me see if I can picture it for you.
Two portable tent garages.
set up end to end with a 2 foot gap in between (to meet regulations about building size).
yellow tent (storage). GAP tent 1 with rabbits. GAP Tent 2 with rabbits.. Garden area.
Rabbits are in built wooden stackers three high.
Ill rabbits occur in
tent 1 top stacker closest to the house near the gap
Tent 2 top stacker and the one immediately below it, farthest away from the house and closest to the gardens.
Rabbits rarely if ever get ill in any other cage.
Rabbits I sell rarely if ever get ill except the odd one...and that's to be expected in ANY rabbitry.
But the seasonal stuff drives me crazy.
Makes me wonder WHY those cages (which get cleaned, have been replaced, have been sanitized REGULARLY and then let sit in the sun being turned daily for upwards of three weeks) cause issues and how can I determine what the problem is?
What kind of things should I be considering as I look to problem solve this?
In the winter I overtarp it all with an extra tarp to block out most wind (not all) and to provide me with less area that needs shoveling out.
