Is there any way of TRYING to get a show in my area? There are no local shows. We have a lot of 4H people around here and a lot of people showing other farm animals at local fairs, but no rabbit showing of any kind. How does one go about starting shows? Who do I contact? There would need to be judges that know their stuff, which is probably non existent here. Should there be separate shows, or maybe just starting at fairs? How have other people started shows in the past? I want competition for rabbits to start here. I know a few children and adults that would love to show their rabbits and want to be educated. Breeding show quality animals and working toward that end is good, in that there are better rabbits being sold. People may also take better care of their rabbits as well if they want to show them.
Am I crazy? Or is this doable?

Most fairs have fair shows and if they don't have their own show then the DR&CBA has many many shows (at fairs and on it's own). Aside from that the Ontario Council of Rabbit Clubs hosts many ARBA shows. They have a show every Sept. in Spencerville as well as many other locations in Southern Ontario.. There are many many rabbit judges living here both from ARBA and from the Dominion Club. Join one or both clubs and then get a show sanctioned through the clubs. 4H usually works with the DRCBA and they just had a huge youth class at the Royal Winter Fair. The OCRC just had their year end convention show just after in Rockton I think. The show scene is alive and well and extremely competitive here in Ontario, in fact some of our members can regularily kick butt in a lot of Arba shows in the States including convention. My friend Beth has won a lot of BOB's and some BIS/RIS with her Mini Rex plus there are many others just as competitive as well as a lot of very good judges! :)
