so yesterday i picked up my lionhead trio. the buck is harlequin, broken black doe, and the other doe i'm not sure what the coloring is called. both does were bred to the buck and if they took then they are due "this week-next week". so i am jumping in head first i suppose.

sorry about the bad pics. they are still skittish of me.

so... if anyone has any links to sites about coloring and what they are called i could use it. haha. and is there a certian colorings i am likely to get from these? thanks!

I don't know anything about Lionheads, but they are cute bunnies! I like the wooden shelters they have access to, but be sure to disinfect them regularly! Congratulations on your new rabbits. :D

Doe unknown color looks to be a broken tort, charlie marked. Maybe a possible vienna mark(the ear white tip I get a lot on my vm's so its a possible guess for me from my own like that). What color are her eyes? If they're marbled blue or off colored, she's likely a vm then. She should have brown eyes if a 'normal' broken tort.

It depends upon what they've got in their backgrounds, you might get tris, torted tris, more harlequins, chesnuts, or blacks. I'm not too much on the genetics side exactly so might have missed some top ones, but that would be my guess based on my own like breedings of those colors.

Using the buck to the first doe should give a broken litter of 50/50 (50% solid, 50% broken), now the other doe IF she is a true charlie should give you nothing but brokens when bred to the buck (if I'm remembering correctly). I've had false charlies come up before that looked almost like her pattern (just a tad more color). Have you had a look at the current working standard for them? That could probably help a lot with what to look for and working with them. The link for the club which has the current standard and other info is: http://www.lionhead.us/
