We have a lionhead doe that has been pulling fur like crazy and has made a beautiful nest in her nest box, but it's 8 days till her due date.

She was born around 5/17/13.

She had her first litter of 6 on 6/24/14 (day 31), all lived.
She had her second litter of 7 on 8/30/14 (day 30), all lived.

So is 8 days way too early? Is it because of the time of year and it being colder (around 50 degrees in our semi-heated Michigan 2 car attached garage)? Daylight (we have been leaving the garage lights on about 13 hours a day)?

Pulling fur like crazy 8 days early................ What do you think?

Thank you.

Seems a bit late to be a false, so I think she's just getting a head start on nesting is all. :)
I had a doe who developed a habit of pulling up to two weeks early...by the time her kits came, the nest was almost pure fur! lol Then others would nest two weeks early but not pull fur until the last minute. :?

My rabbit pulled fur a week before she had her popples. She could be preparing how to pull fur. I don't think it will harm her to have extra fur in her cage, though. :?:
