""Something"" went out of kilter. My internal clock went Ka-boink!!
Night's became days and the days became fuzzy. From the 1st of November
till the 8th.....I couldn't beg, buy, borrow, or steal 3 consecutive hours of
sleep. Historically, I've NEVER slept well, but those numbered days were
nightmares to the tenth degree.

The problem is, I don't have a clue as to what triggered it. In one 72 hour
stretch, I got a grand total of 4 hours worth of sleep. I was Zombie-fied :x
AND I wasn't real whippy to be around either. Hmmm, imagine that.
Naps were a waste of my time.... I CANNOT believe the number of calls I
got, Nor the number of sales-people that rang my doorbell. I'm sure they
felt a RAVING LUNATIC had answered his door. All left.........quickly.

The 4th, 5th, and 6th, was that really bad period where sleep seemed to
have deserted me. The night of the 6th going into the 7th I did better.
A whopping 4 hours.....that's pretty good for me. I felt almost human, again.

I went non-stop the 7th, eating and resting around 4p.m. Hopped in the
shower and got slicked up and headed to the High School. The team was
playing for the district championship....we WON btw: :p :p Around midnight
I drifted off to sleep. "Big plans for Saturday"....My eyeballs zapped open
at exactly 1:45 a.m. I knew I could kiss anymore sleep "good-bye"... :(

Given a lemon, I'll make Lemonade. I had about 3+ hours to kill before
leaving. It was a pretty good quiet time to work on my newest book.
I think I went past 80,000 words right about then. 5:30 rolled around
with me in my little Doodle-Bug headed into south central Missouri. I had
220 miles ahead of me....but that was okay. I was headed to pick up my
Am. Chins. :x :x Those are some spooky roads down in there.
Scared the pee-waddin out of me more than a couple of times.
A super-great location for a Giant Slalom... If one has the ####'$ to try.
I don't!! :x

Got the buns, enjoyed the visit...and headed home. I was beginning to get
a little tired. 2/3's of the way home, it dawned on me that I hadn't eaten
anything since my over-done weeny at the ball game. My stomach began
to believe my throat had been slashed. I don't know why I do it, but
sometimes, I just forget to eat.....alllllllll dayyyyy!! And then, I wonder why
I'm queasy and light-headed. Oh well, another hot-dog down the hatch
chased with a large Mountain Dew and I was good to go. 30 minutes shy
of 12 straight hours, I turned off the car down at my barn. I still had
chores to do and the new rabbits to get settled in.

Around 10:30 I finished and headed to the house...I ate a bite and sat down
in my recliner, watched the news. Past that..I cannot honestly remember
one single solitary thing. I opened my eyes, still sitting in my recliner,
the clock read 7:30. I checked and the Sun was up. I got about eight solid
hours with my eyeballs closed...
I think that's called "Sleep" as near as I can recall. :p

It was a raggedly rough, week.

Of course, home-life is still just Peachy-Keen.

I've got an excellent post script for the entire week. It's so ironic, that
I cannot help but laugh about it. Crying would do no good.

I was basically, BRAIN DEAD when I arrived
to pick up my rabbits. I bought 2 young bucks and 4 unrelated does. I was
so wore out, I had the ladies carry my crates up to the car and put them
in for me. I crawled behind the wheel and headed north.

What I failed to do shows exactly how tired I truly was. Yep, you guessed it.
Sunday noon, I discovered 4 bucks and 2 does. I cannot place the "words"
I shouted to no one buy my rabbits, on this site. All is well, I'm expecting
a visit from this gracious lady within the week. Right now, I'm hungry and
somewhat "tired.

Grumpy.

Grumpy....you need a regular schedule for some sleep. (((hugs)))

I would be a rip and tear if I tried to do what you do, even for
a 2 day stretch. I have sleep apnea and good sleep shedule is mandatory
for me. This time change in the fall messes with me also. Takes about
a week to get back into my groove. I have caught a good head cold.
Just getting over it. First one in a LONG time.

My hubby drinks coffee right up till he goes to bed. I been trying to tell
him not to do that. I stop coffee mid afternoon so I can sleep. Hubby
does not sleep well and can be a real grump at times. Now he is retired
and I thought he might sleep better, but that is not happening. It is what
it is.

Bunny hugs to all the insomniacs (whether permanent or temporary) on the boards! Insomnia creeps around our house inflicting various members of the family, so I know how days seem to turn into weeks (or a week, if you're Grumpy).

I feel for you all...I have the same issue.Go for days with little or no sleep, then drop from exhaustion. :( I have to force myself to stay in bed because if I don't I won't go to sleep at all. Fall asleep around 2 or 3 back up at 6:30 to get the grandkids off to school. On weekends I sometimes make it to 7:30ish. That's sleeping in. It's hard to explain to someone who has never had a problem. My hubby drinks coffee up till bed time and falls asleep in minutes.

I am one of those that if I drink coffee I fall asleep, unless I am so tired that I am "wired" then it will keep me up for an hour or so. I feel for you guys who have the sleep issues. It is never any fun or is it welcome. :(

I rarely have any trouble sleeping, but Hubs sometimes does.

A doctor friend recently told him to take an Advil and a Benadryl before bed... well, he tried it with only half a Benadryl, and it knocked him out! I'm not one for pharmaceutical drugs, but it might be worth trying so you can get some rest.

I'm using a diphenhydramine hydrochloride based sleep aid right now, due to work related schedule changes. It's the same active ingredient as Benadryl.

Works alright, and I really like that it's not habit forming.

Wow, Grumpy... how in the world could you even drive? I'd have been way too  .

Benadryl is an option, and so is melatonin.

My kids and my mom all take or have taken melatonin. My kids take it, because they are mildly autistic, and sleep problems often go with autism. I read somewhere that autistic people naturally produce less melatonin, and supplementation helps. My mom took it, we thought just because melatonin production falls off as you get older, which may be a big reason it becomes more and more difficult to sleep as you age. She was having a lot of trouble, and melatonin helped. When she was taken off of two heart medications, the need for melatonin disappeared. She's back on one of them, but is doing fine sleeping so far.

Melatonin is a hormone that is naturally produced by the body. It regulates day/night cycles, and seems to have influence in many other functions of the body.

I'd recommend starting with 1mg, which can be difficult to find. I order it from LuckyVitamin.com. The kids have slowly worked up to 6mg a night. Mom was taking 9.

WOW, Grumpy. That's not a pretty picture you painted there. I hope you get back in sync soon. Also, please keep us posted on the AmChins.

Not much has changed. Went to bed at Midnight....Up at three.

Hopefully, naptime will be successful today.

The Chin's are doing good. :p :p

I've been real cautious feeding them this first week. Small amount of
fodder daily (thumb-sized). Continual supply of hay and a part ration
of pellets each evening. Last night each got between 3 to 4 ounces.

With them having hay in front of them all the time and then their
fodder an hour or so before their pellets, I don't figure they'll "gorge"
themselves on a "pellets-only" meal. Thus far, it's been working.
They'll eat a small portion of the pellets, then take a break!

I quite likely reduced their growth weight for the last few days, but I'd
prefer that over them ending up with digestive problems concerning a
new feed.

My Psychology professor (who also worked as a psychologist) said anytime one of his patients was struggling with insomnia, he told them to get up and go wash dishes. His point was that a lot of us tend to participate in activities that stimulate our brain when we can't sleep: watch TV, get on the internet, read etc.

Washing dishes is a mind-numbing activity, and supposedly will help turn off your brain and make you sleepy.

I've never tried this, but maybe it's worth a shot?

Hope you can get some sleep soon, Grumpy! Glad your new buns are doing well.

Hah! I'll have to suggest that to Hubs!

That, or buy some buckets of paint for the house. He hates painting because it is so mindless, but our walls could really use it...

Sounds like a great plan there MSD!!

I thought so, too... but unfortunately Hubs is not being co-operative, and refuses to comply with the recommendations of trained medical professionals.

*Sigh!*

Which leaves me with Miss M's tried and true treatment: :chair:

I will just have to bludgeon Hubs into unconsciousness, I guess. :? And hope that he finds doing dishes or painting walls to be a preferable alternative. :p

This cr#$ won't quit!!!

Rough day yesterday, I didn't do diddley!! Didn't feel well, I had a headache.

I drifted off to sleep about a quarter after ten last night.
Then BOOM!! My eyeballs banged open @ 2:17 this morning.

I'm callin' the Doctor later this morning. Gettin' tired of this stuff.!!
Something's gonna have to give, I cannot take much more of it!!

I feel for you very much Grumpy. I hope you get the help you need so you can get some decent rest VERY soon. I am sending you all good sleepy thoughts.

Me too! Hope you don't see this for a couple days because you're zonked out.

I've struggled with this off and on my entire life. I go weeks where I do little BUT sleep and weeks where I only sleep 4-5 hours in a 3 day stretch. What sucks the most is you're wide awake but everything just sucks. It's like sleep walking through life... exhausted but never sleepy. I've resorted to Zquil lately. It works but I have to be sure to take it an hour before I want to sleep and give myself 7 hours of sleep time. I used to do the Benadryl thing but for some reason that always left me drowsy when I woke up. Life is a hell of a lot better with regular sleep... but I still have my weeks where I don't want to drug myself.
