Hello RT family.

The last couple months have been eventful. Moving to a new city, finding a new job, and of course finding a new place to call home. We moved from Reno down to Las Vegas so that I can finish my Vet Tech classes. I start next monday!!!! Yes I am supper excited about it too, if you couldn't tell .

Anyway, I found a job as a Kennel Technician at a larger practice that sees cats, dogs, reptiles, exotics (including rabbits!), and Large Felines. My head doc is the main vet for all the casinos around Vegas. No I can't get pictures to share with you all. But I can talk about it here and there when something really awesome comes in, I just can not give specifics is all. Now yes I did start as a Kennel Tech but I start as a vet tech in training Saturday. I managed to catch a nasty flu that is going around and have been out of work since last Saturday. Can't wait to get back in the game so to speak. The step up was a bit of a surprise to me. Last Thursday I went to talk with one of the doctors about a boarded dog we had that I felt needed to have a closer look at. Doc told me to get a "TPR" on the her. TPR is an acronym for "Temperature, Pulse, Respiratory Rate for those who don't know. Well doc was surprised when I didn't hand the dog off to one of the techs and did it myself. He asked me if I had any training as a Vet Assistant and if so how long? I told him and he said that I am starting in treatment after the 1st. It was just my luck I got sick.

Now as for housing... well lets just say that "Life Happens" has struck again. The place we where going to do a rent to own was sold out from under us when we where half way to Vegas. Okay fine, we can just keep looking. Right now we are in a 1 room weekly rate motel. By we I mean DH, Sage my dog, the 5 buns (Tiny, Twitch, Missy, Prissy, and Sissy), and myself. Yes things are tight, but we are making it work. The right place will come up when we are ready for it. Till then it is one day and one foot at a time. We keep smiling and helping each other laugh.

Even though it might not seem like it at times, Life has a way of showing you what you are made of and those of whom you can count on when the need arises.

Glad life it giving You some goodies ! Enjoy.
Congratulations on the promotion at Your job. When someone shows faith in you... it really builds confidence.
While You might be in close quarters... i believe the right place will become available for You.

Again ... :congratulations:

You have been busy, Sagebrush! Thanks for the update. So glad that most things are going so well. Hoping the next time you pop in will be to tell us you've found a new place to live. I have to tell you, I admire how well you are coping with everything, and I'm so glad you and DH are such a great team. It makes all the difference! :)

MaggieJ, that is so very true. We wouldn't be here if we could not work together.

I have now started classes, fun though they "might" be, I cannot wait till this sequence is over and I can start learning more than just the foundation. I know that without a good solid foundation your house will fall and crumble when things get wonky. However, I have realized that what I am going through now is just the beginning. Life is never going to be dull, never going to be easy, and most of all it is always going to be rewarding. In one of my classes, I had to write a paper on what I am going to do when things get tough. I figured I would share it will you all so maybe it could help and inspire someone else who might be going through some tough situations.

Granted this is coming from me trying to become a Veterinary Technician. Though I think the gist of it would help in many situations. Man how time flies.

Well anyway, I am proud to say that I have graduated from my program and have become a Veterinary Nurse! However, life, as it tends to do, throws wrenches into the works whenever possible. The rabbits and I ended up moving in with my grandparents while DH headed to Iowa in pursuit of a new job back in October of 2018 right after I finished my on-grounds courses. I managed to get a job and a site for my externship within a few days of arriving here. The rabbits, Tiny and Thistle, ended up having to live in the garage while we are here since my grandpa is allergic to anything with fur. But as it is, they are healthy and safe from the critters coming through after all the fires. DH is doing well in Iowa and has made Lead for the team that works that area. We are looking to see if we can either rent a home there if not purchase. So far, we have not seen anything that really appeals to us and our situation. I am dealing with the courts and waiting to find out if the boys get to come and live with me again.

While working at my current location (will be moving to Iowa in the next few months) I had a client that brought in a rabbit that they had found abandoned in a fenced lot. She had been there for a week before they brought her in. Both the client and I have looked into the local shelters, animal control, placed adds on Craigslist, and I contacted other vets around the area for the last 3 weeks to see if they had anyone looking for this rabbit. Nothing. Someone is a jerk and Karma shall bite them on the **********. However, she is a very sweet girl and has found a forever home with me and my family. She will also be going to Iowa with us.

Pictures will be posted in the next few days when I have some time off work to get some.
