I am seriously planning a deal to purchase another Mini Lop Buck. Because raffle Buck is too closely line bred to use with the raffle does and if I want babies I ought to make sure I can show and pedigree them... AND because wouldn't broken babies be so awesome!

If it works out I'll be taking a 2 hour detour into Missouri on our return trip from Thanksgiving at my Sisters house in Oklahoma.
Thankfully I do enjoy Ozark scenery hope the kids and DH don't mind!

Totally using money I was going to buy new work clothes with on. a. rabbit. This place should offer a 12 step program... ;)

We do try to warn new members about the dangers of hanging out here ;) but they never seem to listen. We at RabbitTalk are master enablers... so get that nice new buck and be sure to post pictures of the spotted popples when they happen.

Not to dissuade you from your purchase- that would be shockingly out of character!- but most show rabbits, laboratory rabbits, and commercial meat lines are very closely linebred and inbred. It is how you get consistency in your animals.

Now that there is a perfect reason! Long live the spotted popples! :p

I can't believe that you would think that we were so irresponsible as to not have such a program in place!

Oh ye of little faith! *Sniff!*

I don't know why I am bothering to help you after you have wounded me and the rest of our members here so deeply, but...

Here:

8 Got new cages now your off to fetch the new rabbits
9 New rabbits out of QT, bred new rabbits
10 Go to a show and see some rabbits you've always wanted to have, bring those home and hide them from spouse

12 Spouse finds out, shakes head, rolls eyes, walks away.......

Seee we DO have a twelve step program!

I decided not to mention any numbers to the hubby.
Started with 3 freebies this summer.
Bought some, gifted with some, sold some, etc.
I am now at 20 animals going into winter.
I have not said this number out loud.
I figure if I sneak home a few more, he'll never know :)
And this is not counting the new week old litter either :D

Wheels, just to keep things interesting, there is a rabbit show in Duncan over Thanksgiving weekend - Fri & Sat.

Oh, and by the way, I'm in Okla. Ever desired a longer eared lop? I've got some beautiful English lops looking for a new home. I bet a pair needs a home in TN.

Know anyone around you with English lops? I'm always looking for something of interest....

 Well I'll only be barely into NE OK so Duncan would be a bit long of a trip...unless I could talk my sister into driving :p

I bet a pair of your bunnies would love a home in TN but it can't me my home right now, I've barely got my husband talked into the MINI! But It's not like I won't be back that way again  ;) ;) I don't know anyone with E lops - around me - in fact, you're the only person I know who has English Lops!

And yes Photos - there will be Photos!

LOL I remember when I went to a show, I was showing maybe 10 or so Mini Lops and my mom asked me just how many we had exactly since she was shocked to see how many I brought....I have 27 main cages...and I had a breeding blow out of 6 does with litters...her face was priceless :)

And don't worry too much about line breeding! Line breeding is very good to set traits. Just as long as they are good examples and compliment each other, you might surprise yourself!

I think the best thing you can do is try to work with no more than 2-3 lines with Mini Lops.

Thanks Peach, I certainly can use all the advice I can get. still very much in the early learning stages. I've been trying to pose my own to evaluate and also look at photos of other mini lops (figuring out exactly what a slipped crown is and such ;) ) Hopefully soon we'll take them to a show and see how they do. The REW Buck is so pee stained and coarse feeling it's a shame. I haven't tried bathing him I just keep brushing and he's slowly looking much more white.

Still not exactly sure What goal I have other than something smallish, sturdy and friendly that my girls and I can enjoy showing. When we brought those three mini lops home in September I wasn't all that impressed but the longer I have them the more I really like them :) :D

Don't get me wrong I like the little Dutch and the harlequin too - I just think the mini lops have them beat in terms of learning curve! ;)

I waffle a lot too! from what am I THINKING ??? to WOO-HOO RABBITS!!!

Our 12-Step Program also has several *sub-steps* Such as;

A) when adding new breeds, consider breeds with similar appearances to the ones you already have. Champagne D'Argents and AmChins hide well among each other. ;) And Mini-Rex are really just small Rex, aren't they?

B) NEVER let non-supportive family or household members know when, where or how you are increasing your numbers... After all, THEY are the crazy ones....

C) Never let an unknowing dinner guest know WHO they are eating.. :pancake: These people tend to think meat grows in styrofoam packages... :p

D) To avoid going crazy, Stay among friends-- mainly, US!!!

Well, I had to curb my disease and only bring one home. Don't know how good my rabbit picking skills are but I like the little guy and I suppose you got to start somewhere! He's a broken seal about 7 months old - photos to follow as soon as I can get some taken and loaded :)

I didn't try and pose him - just stuck my phone in the QT cage - figured he needed some down time

I just realized all those photos are on their side! I have no Idea why when I use my phone to post photos they do THAT! When I view them from my phone they are correct and then I get on my PC and they're wrong - so frustrating! But I will say he's been perfect, acts like he travels all the time!

__________ Tue Dec 03, 2013 11:42 am __________

I can't stand it! - here here he is upright, ;) Names are being debated - the girls are favoring a chocolate themed name
